NZ Food Trailers Buyer's Guide

NZ FOOD TRAILERS BUYER'S GUIDE

Going into business for yourself is a big step.
We've been helping New Zealanders do it since 2015 — and we know the difference between a food trailer that sets you up and one that lets you down.

Step 1 — Before anything else

We start by understanding your business idea

Whether you're brand new to the industry or already running a successful operation, the right food trailer or food truck starts with the right questions. Some customers arrive with a detailed brief. Others are still working out the concept. Either way, we ask the same things — because the answers shape everything we recommend.
What are you cooking or serving?
Burgers, coffee, ice cream, Thai, baking — your menu drives everything from bench layout to gas requirements and cooking equipment.

How many people working the trailer?
One operator or a crew? Trailer size, layout, and workflow all depend on this — and we know trailers inside out.
How will you power your trailer?
Most customers run on a petrol inverter generator — we supply and advise on the right one. Fixed mains is an option on some sites. For solar or battery systems, we'd point you to a specialist.
Step 2 — The Build

We fit out your food trailer properly — ready to trade or fully custom

Every food trailer we sell comes fitted with the core infrastructure: benches, rangehood, cabinetry, water system, electrical installation, and underbench fridge (model dependent). From there, we work with you to customise further. Cooking equipment — fryers, griddles, gas burners, coffee machines — is specified and costed separately. We'll help you work out exactly what you need for your menu.

Ready to trade — in stock now

If an in-stock trailer suits your needs, we can get it ready quickly. Rego, WOF, EWoF — all sorted before it leaves us. The trailer's electrical installation is NZ certified. Any gas cooking equipment is installed by a Registered Gasfitter.
Custom build — your spec, your layout
We go through a detailed floor plan process together. When you're 100% happy, we start production. Every custom build leaves to the same compliance standard — no shortcuts.
Step 3 — GETTING YOUR TRAILER

Every customer gets a full handover — we walk you through how to operate your trailer and give you a comprehensive instruction manual to take away. If you're not local, we do this online and arrange nationwide delivery.

Step 4 — BEFORE YOU BUY FROM ANYONE

Whether you're buying from us or anyone else — get clear answers to these before you commit.

Is there an NZ warranty and what does it actually cover?

A warranty that's hard to claim is no warranty at all. Ask what's covered, for how long, and what the process is if something goes wrong.

Does it come with a current WOF and road registration?

Your food trailer needs to be road legal before it can trade. Confirm these are included — not extras you arrange yourself.

Is the electrical wiring NZ certified, with an EWoF?

An Electrical Warrant of Fitness is a legal requirement. If the supplier can't confirm this clearly, walk away.

Who handles after-sales support — and are they in NZ?

If something happens, who can you call? Knowing there's a real local team you can call makes a significant difference.

Can you see the trailer in person before you commit?

A supplier confident in their product will always say yes. If viewing isn't an option, that tells you something.

Ready to talk it through?

We have food trailers in stock at our Mount Maunganui showroom. Come in for a look, book a video call, or just give us a ring.
